Last updated: May 29, 2026
Latino Connect Hub ("we", "our", "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This policy outlines how we collect, use, store, and disclose your information in compliance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and its 13 Information Privacy Principles (IPPs).
1. Who We Are
Latino Connect Hub is a digital directory for the Latin community businesses in New Zealand. We operate in Auckland, NZ. You can contact us at any time at hello@latinoconnecthub.co.nz.
2. What Data We Collect (IPP 1, 4)
We only collect what is strictly necessary for the stated purpose: • Signup / waitlist: name, business name, email, WhatsApp number, and service category. • Account: email, password (hashed), and profile information you choose to provide. • Businesses: establishment details, photos, address, operating hours, and public reviews. • Leads: messages sent by consumers to listed businesses. • Technical: IP address (anonymized/hashed format), browser type, and pages visited, exclusively for security and aggregated metrics. We never collect sensitive data (health, religion, ethnicity) or data from children under 16.
3. How We Collect It (IPP 2, 3, 4)
We collect data directly from you when you fill out a form, create an account, list your business, or contact us. Before submitting, you will clearly see what the data will be used for, who it may be shared with, and your rights. We do not use covert or misleading collection methods.
4. How We Use Your Data (IPP 10)
• To operate the platform, your account, and your business listing. • To send transactional emails (activation, password recovery, notifications). • To allow contact between consumers and listed businesses. • To prevent fraud, abuse, and terms violations. • For marketing communications — only with your explicit consent, with an option to opt-out at any time.
5. Who We Share It With (IPP 11, 12)
We only share data with strictly necessary service providers: • Supabase (database and authentication) — secure hosting. • Resend (transactional email delivery). • Cloudflare (edge hosting and security protection). • Google (optional login via OAuth, if you choose so). These providers may store data outside New Zealand. We select partners with data protection standards comparable to the Privacy Act 2020. We do not sell your data.
6. Security (IPP 5)
We apply robust technical and organizational measures: HTTPS/TLS for all traffic, Row Level Security (RLS) on database tables, password hashing, role-based access control, rate-limiting, and log reviews. Despite our efforts, no system is 100% secure. If a serious data breach occurs, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner as required by law.
7. Retention (IPP 9)
We keep your data only as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected or to meet legal obligations. Waitlist data is deleted after launch and migration. You can request deletion at any time.
8. Your Rights (IPP 6, 7)
You have the right to: • Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you. • Correct inaccurate or outdated information. • Request the permanent deletion of your account and personal data. • Withdraw marketing consent at any time. • File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner NZ. Please send requests to hello@latinoconnecthub.co.nz — we respond within 20 working days.
9. Cookies
We use essential cookies (session, authentication, language preferences) which do not require consent, and optional analytics cookies only after you opt-in. You can review your preferences via the banner shown on your first visit or by clearing your browser data.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. We will notify you by email or via a platform notice when significant changes occur.
